Obermeyer Organ Company was founded in 1960 by John F. Obermeyer.  John had moved to Minnesota from Buffalo, New York, where he had worked for the Schlicker Organ Company since returning from service in the second world war. Mr. Obermeyer began a vibrant business in the Minneapolis area, representing the Schlicker Organ Company in sales and service. He also added other brands to the ranks of the many organs that he serviced over the years.  Brian Sullivan joined the company in 1986 at age 24, primarily as a woodworker and service technician. Brian apprenticed under Mr. Obermeyer, where he learned all the various aspects of organ building which included, tuning, voicing and repair. John retired in 1992, and Mr. Sullivan purchased the company.

Brian Sullivan has owned and operated the business since 1992. Previously a cabinet maker and mechanic, Mr. Sullivan has a passion for restoring and building pipe organs which has been a lifelong endeavor. Continuously being educated with real world experience and problem solving, each new project brings the excitement of taking an instrument from, what often is an unusable state, to being completely restored and capable of service for decades to come.

Obermeyer Organ Company has been in business for over 50 years, serving the greater Midwest area of Minnesota, Iowa and Wisconsin. A Minnesota based corporation which is fully insured, Obermeyer Organ Company carries workmen's compensation and liability insurance on every jobsite. 

As a member of the American Institute of Organ Building, the ethos and attitudes of the artistry of organ building are reflected in the work that is performed, ranging from tunings to complete rebuilds. All work and materials are the finest obtainable in the organ industry and guaranteed against defects and all work is performed in a manner accustom to the trade of organ building.

Brian Sullivan is also the representative for Van Daalen Pipe Organs, a subsidiary of Pels & Van Leeuwen, The Netherlands. A long-standing friendship with Mr. Van Daalen has enabled Brian to be mentored in many of the intricate details of this more traditional style of organ building. This has led to an expertise with the tracker style of key actions and its special nuances as well as custom temperaments, keyboard regulation, tuning and voicing along with complete installations of new instruments.
